Coronary balloon dilation catheter iVascular xperience pro

Coronary balloon dilation catheter iVascular xperience pro

The xperience pro coronary balloon catheter is a rapid exchange catheter, also called rX (rapid exchange), due to its single proximal lumen and dual coaxial distal lumen, designed for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty.

At the distal end of the catheter, in front of the tip, there is a balloon or segment that is inflatable under varying pressures and dilates the artery when contrast fluid is injected into it.

The balloon is designed to produce an inflatable segment of known diameter and length at the recommended pressure. The catheter has a conical tip.

The combined body of the catheter has a single lumen in the proximal part and a dual lumen in the distal part.

The single lumen at the proximal end allows the passage of contrast fluid through the proximal connector with a Luer lock into the balloon for its inflation.

This lumen is connected to the distal lumen, which allows the passage of contrast fluid and ends in a balloon.

The coaxial double lumen at the distal end has two purposes:

– A lumen for the passage of contrast fluid used to inflate the balloon attached to the proximal lumen.

– A guidewire passes through the other lumen, facilitating the passage of the catheter towards and through the stenotic area to be dilated.

The catheter body has markers that facilitate the calculation of its position relative to the tip of the guiding catheter (the marker located closer to the catheter adapter is intended for femoral guiding catheters, and the marker located further away is for brachial guiding catheters).

The distal part of the catheter has a durable hydrophilic coating, which provides lubrication of the catheter as it passes through the arteries.

The balloon diameter is from 1.25 to 5 mm, the balloon length is from 10 to 40 mm.

The maximum diameter of the guidewire should not exceed 0.36 mm (0.014 in).

The effective length of the catheter is 142 cm.

The xperience pro is available in different versions depending on the balloon size.

Indications

The xperience pro balloon catheter is suitable for balloon dilation of a stenotic section of a coronary artery or stenosis of bypass grafts replacing coronary arteries in order to improve myocardial perfusion.
